Q:  Why do I need to call for my Student ID number if I’ve already taken a class with the Red Cross?  That seems like a hassle.

A:  Each person that takes a class with the Red Cross (either at the Chapter Office, at work, school, online, or other satellite location) is given a unique Student ID number in the National Red Cross database.  There are hundreds of thousands of students in the database.  If you already have a Student ID number but register without it you will create a duplicate record within our database.  If you have duplicate or multiple records within our database, there is chance that your “Learning History” (the list of all classes you have taken) will be spread out over those duplicate or multiple records also.  This could result in you not getting the correct certificates for classes you completed, and us not being able to correctly verify which classes you completed and when.  This becomes especially important for students who are required to have certification for work or school.

A:  No, you may browse our catalog of classes any time without registering or logging in.

Q:  Why don’t I see any Saturday classes?

A:  Almost all of our classes are held during the week.  The exceptions are Babysitter’s Training and Wilderness First Aid.

Q:  I know the Red Cross certifies Lifeguards and teaches swim lessons, where are these classes in your catalog?

A:  We don’t schedule these classes at our Chapter Offices since we don’t have a pool.  There are quite a few pools and aquatic centers in the area that offer Red Cross certifications in Life guarding and swim lessons.  The various locations can be found by visiting this page.

Q:  Some of the classes look pretty similar, how do I know which one I need?

Q:  What is Blended Learning?

A:  A Blended Learning class is one in which you do the reading and written portion online at your convenience, and then come to a scheduled in-seat class to do your skills practice with an Instructor.  You can register and pay for Blended Learning classes the same way you would register and pay for an in-seat class.

Q:  Do you still offer Wilderness First Aid or Pet First Aid?

A:  Yes.  These classes are only offered as demand dictates – call us at 864-271-8222 to be placed on a waiting list or notification list.
